Glory to the Empire! :P
Just a swift update, major, major changes are coming to the site as we reach our final stages of our 'rebirth' and begin our push for h-world domination.
1. You'll find a brand new forums is now(or soon will be) functional! Over the coming weeks, it will be populated by Movies, Games, reviews, discussion of all kind, Roleplaying, you name it! And most important, will be home to our fabled Update System in which the users, you, will choose what we update each and every week in our bi-weekly updates! >=)
2. You'll find themes changed, stuff improved, new webpages and improved designs for the site over the next month popping out left and right! Stay tuned, some really sweet stuff is coming... ;)
3. our community will soon make an explosive return from the grave, and with in the next 5 months, I expect we'll see 3x or more our old community, including many lost friends and comrades who thought their glorious Empire dead, and instead, will lay eyes upon that which cannot die in its new, glorious state >=D
When we begin 'phase 2' of our production, our focus will be on community growth! One major aspect of this, is our new Donation System, and Update System!
The Donation System. The Donation system, which I will be putting up a proper page for information on it, is a system soon to be online that will allow individuals such as yourself donate a tiny sum to HOK to help the expansion and continued glory of the Overkill Empire. By tiny sum, we mean a single dollar, 1$, the cost of a freakin' CANDY BAR is all it will take to reap full benefits of this system, as well as know you have helped the Site continued to grow, prosper, and bring you so much content it's OVERKILL! >=)
More detailed, Donators will gain various perks, such as...
- The removal of advertisements from the site (which will still, be very light to non-donators).
- The Ability to vote in a special Donator only version of the weekly update voting! Donators will get a stronger hand in shaping the future of HOK and beyond.
- And plenty of more little perks!
Note: At no time, will we make content exclusive to Donators only. We are against 'paysites' - this system is to thank those who donate and help us stay afloat!
The New Update System. In our previous incarnation, we heard the cries of our community, crying for content, for a reason to visit every day and have something new to look forward to, and we have listened!
The new Update System we are implementing, is quite simple, while giving Users entire, and utter control of what series will be updated, each and every week.
Each week, users will be able to vote for their favorite Series in a special board on the forums. All a user needs to do is say the name of the Series they wish to see updated/added to the Galleries, and that's it! At the end of the week, all votes for that week will be tallied up, and the top 5 for both the Normal Gallery, and doujin Gallery, will be declared the winners, and will be updated the following week!
Of course, you can't just allow the series you want to win, to lose can you? No. You can try to rally excitement from users and pitch your series to them! Rally support for your choice, and really stir up some passionate community rivalry as users compete to see THEIR desired series win! And if you don't one week, there's always the next, and the next!
Not excited yet? You will be soon. Our Rebirth is nearly complete, and soon, the Empire shall rise once again from the ashes and block out the very sun itself, and force all to gaze upon its majesty and indomitable presence...

What's going on, and what will be coming!
So! It's been ages since I talked to you guys without a rambling post! I'm sorry for the long delay - we (I) have been waiting for the staff to meet our deadline, which after a bunch of trouble, they did and I am proud of them for it!
NOW! What the hell are we doing now? Well. It's very simple, yet also... very complex. :P
first off, we are continuing gathering and tagging efforts to have a 'stash' of new material to work off of for when weekly updates come in, to ease the burden on collectors while we get into the 'system' of things. Tagging wise, we're still working out the kinks, and it's going slow, but progressing. We're definitely going to need to 'hire' 5-10 dedicated taggers for this though! Just too much to do with the sheer amount of content we will be pushing into the site!
Besides that, the Galleries are other wise finished for the moment. So whats next? Next is revamping the site! Fixing all the links up, adding the Forums, Story Sections, yada yada yada yada back in, re-adding the poll, fixing 'affiliates' and such little aesthetics shit!
After that is where we hit a brick wall. We need people to get enough income to support us (advertisements and such), yet... we need money to draw people back, via advertisements. -.-;
Then, we also need MOAR money to acquire our forums which will be getting a heavy revamp to encourage community participation (not enforced mind you), as well as install the 'Donation system'. We also need to get our main design 'fixed up' (such as drop down menu's being horribly ugly), our new 'entry page' created, and our Gallery Theme made to match our site design with some more improvements to it as well!
All of the above, will cost roughly 1000$ to do, discounting our monthly cost (which for note, I managed to get cut down by 30$! Expert negotiation skills there). You may say 1000$?! That's insane! And not really. A break down below.
~ Advertising to get a RELIABLE user base back, over a 3 month period - 500$
~ Cost to get Advertisements created - 90-150$
~ Cost for the forums - 229$
~ Cost for Gallery and Site 'revamps' - 50-350$ (depending)
~ Monthly cost - 360$ (estimated about 3 months to enact all this work - could be less, but being safe)
As you see, that's MORE then 1000$, and that's being conservative in our finances too!
BUT - It's not all a lose! Time to do some shitty, botchy math! :D
Prior to our 'crash', we had the follow stats...
~ 4-5k unique visitors a day with about 20,000 visits total (not page views - people entering hentaioverkill.net)
~ Monthly, we averaged an insane 620,000 'visits' to the site (not page views).
~ at that rate, we generated about even to our monthly cost from advertisements alone, which were quite sparse and not overwhelming to users.
We did NO advertising, and were hampered by problems which detracted users from visiting. If we had pushed advertising, refined and finished projects, and got updates out weekly, our rough estimates are that 4-5k would've jumped to at least 15,000 unique visitors a day. Not outrageous, considering Aerisdies touches 60,000 and I have heard many say they despise it compared to HOK.
Now, our server then and now, is capable of handling 10-12k unique visitors a day EASILY. So we would make 2-3x what we are paying for our server at that point! Which in turn, will be getting (for the most part) put back into the site to continue it's expansion and domination of the Hentai World.
NOW - the problem. Money. IF we could get the funds we need, it's clear to those of you who have been here for a long time, I am dedicated. Our staff is dedicated, and many of you know/seen my ideas of what we COULD be if we just get a damn break!
How are we going to remedy this? Fuck if I know. I've been trying to remedy this for a few months, but my life keeps hurling curve balls at me, and donations have just barely been able to sustain us, not let us reach our goal needed.
Compare HOK to a Beggar. Sure, donations let us get a meal and keep alive, yet someone who took HOK off the streets, and gave it a job, would give it that chance to prove itself in life.

The Proposal
ANYWAYS! Rambling aside - I have a proposal to anyone who is DEADLY serious. I mean, SERIOUS as a business entrepreneur serious.
As sole owner of Hentai Overkill, I hold all 'legal' rights to it as a business - which it is. What I am desiring, is individuals who would be willing to invest sums of their own, personal money into HOK - investments - which would be utilized to expand and reach the goals of the 'business' in both profitability, and other end goals agreed upon in the contract agreements.
Q: How would such a thing work?
A: Very simple. I would make up a legally binding contract (it would not force you, the investor, any risk) that would state YOUR wishes and goals for this investment, what you expect in return, what I am expected to uphold, and how if it fails, I, myself, am responsible for repaying you under legal prosecution.
Q: ...what?
A: Aka, you talk with me, we all agree on 'goals' to aim for you expect to happen from your money invested, how much money you want back (do you want just the original amount, or 2x back?), then both parties (myself and you) sign it, forming it into a legal contract. If I fail to fulfill your 'agreed upon goals' or refund your funds by the time stated between us, you can legally come after me for the money, aka, I can't fuck you over. :P
Q: So, I would 'own' a part of HOK and it's decision making?
A: Possibly. There is no obligation to become involved in HOK beyond the money. You could simply say, 'invest' 1000$ and ask 2000$ back, with no goals, or authority. Once we acquired enough profit, you would get your funds paid to you, then all ties to HOK would be cut. Or you could request to feign your 'repayment' and literally own a part of the Site, its decision making, and a pre-set amount of the profits each month for example. It's all debatable!
Q: What if I want to do it just for generosity?
A: Well... yeah. That's not the point of this. That's a donation - we're after investment. Someone who will invest to see us strive and prosper, and expect financial gain in return!
Q: Ok, how do I do it? What do I need to do? I hate legal jargon.
A: Hahaha. There's no lawyers and shit involved. Simply we talk via e-mail, agree on 'terms', copy-paste some legal jargon onto a paper, sign our 'names' on it agreeing to the terms, and done. Simple as that.

All's good.
Yeah, half a sleep, half brain dead, 0.1% functional atm... so yes.
Deadline was met, stuff's being fixed, but being delayed as, well, my life's a fiasco atm. Sorting is done on all images atm, tagging is being setup for guidelines and worked on next while I get the rest of the site and shit up!
More exciting, coherent post will be made in a day or two or ten or whenever I get 30 minutes to write one, sigh x.x;

We are... dead!
Nah not really. Febuary 15th hit, but so did a vicious bug that totally neutered our staff from doing their jobs, thus, that date is moot.
The New date is Febuary 30th! What do you mean 30th doesn't exist? Shut up! >.>! the end of the month, ok?
Either thing's done then, or we got kapoot. If it's done - I'll be revamping everything and getting us online properly again!
So yell at 'dem lazy workers! Work harderrr! :P
I'll put a more serious post up about this in the future - just not all here atm.
